About

Perspective is a competitive advantage.

I am a Vienna-based strategist, editor and entrepreneur working at the intersection of business, brands, media and culture.

Over the past two decades, my professional experience has taken me across luxury, publishing, hospitality, retail and communications, combining editorial judgement with commercial strategy and an understanding of the cultural forces that influence consumer behaviour.

Much of my work is driven by a fundamental question: why do people value certain brands, products, places and experiences more than others, and how can businesses translate that understanding into meaningful commercial opportunities?

Having held executive, editorial and commercial leadership positions, I approach business challenges from several perspectives rather than through a single professional discipline. My experience spans brand development, creative direction, media strategy, publishing, commercial partnerships and business development.

Today, I work directly with founders, business owners, executives and institutions on positioning, communication, editorial direction and strategic growth.

When an assignment requires additional expertise, creative resources or a dedicated team, I extend this work through Blooming Cactus, the Vienna-based strategic and creative agency I co-founded.

I work internationally in English, German, French and Turkish.

Experience & Perspective

An international perspective, built from the inside.

My career began at the Istanbul headquarters of Beymen, one of Türkiye's most influential luxury retail institutions, where I worked as Assistant to the Brand Director.

As a multibrand retailer representing some of the world's leading fashion houses, Beymen provided an early introduction to the commercial and creative structures behind international luxury.

Working alongside the Brand Director offered insight into the different functions of a complex retail organisation, from brand management and marketing to merchandising, commercial partnerships and the coordination of international fashion houses.

It was an opportunity to understand how individual brands maintain their identities within a larger retail environment, how commercial decisions influence positioning and how different departments contribute to a consistent customer experience.

Over the years, I have worked with internationally recognised brands including Chanel, Dior, Shiseido and Armani, developing brand experiences, print campaigns, editorial concepts and integrated communications that connect creative ideas with commercial objectives.

My work has extended from conceiving and developing magazines to creating brand environments, finding ideas and connecting established luxury houses with their audiences through traditional media, experiential marketing and strategic partnerships.

Publishing became another defining part of my professional development. Through senior editorial, commercial and management positions, including Falstaff Living and MAISON Ë, I have worked on the relationship between content, audiences, advertising, brand partnerships and the economics of media.

Working across these different disciplines has given me an understanding of both sides of the industry: how brands create and communicate value, and how media businesses build, distribute and monetise attention.

It has also shaped my understanding of the relationship between creative ambition and commercial reality. Strong ideas need more than aesthetic appeal or an engaging narrative. They require a clear understanding of the business they are intended to serve, the audience they seek to influence and the economic environment in which they operate.

Today, this experience informs my work with founders, executives and organisations on positioning, business strategy, communications and growth.

Rather than approaching these disciplines separately, I consider how they influence one another and how strategic decisions can translate into commercially meaningful outcomes.

What I Do

I work at the intersection of strategy, creativity and commerce, connecting ideas, people and opportunities to create meaningful value. From brand positioning and editorial direction to creative concepts and commercial strategy, my work is driven by one conviction: great ideas should not only look extraordinary. They should make a difference.

01

Value Gap Diagnostic

Understanding the difference between what something offers and what people believe it is worth.

The Value Gap Diagnostic is a focused strategic assessment designed to identify the difference between a brand's actual proposition, the signals it communicates and the value its audience perceives.

A business may have an excellent product, a compelling location or a strong commercial offering and still struggle to establish the relevance, desirability or price positioning it deserves. Often, the challenge lies not in the product itself but in how its value is understood and communicated.

Through a structured review of positioning, audience expectations, competitive context, visual and verbal identity, and the broader cultural environment, I identify where perception supports commercial ambition and where it works against it.

The assessment considers the relationship between what a business intends to communicate and what its audience is likely to understand, including the visual, verbal, experiential and commercial signals that contribute to perceived value.

The outcome is a clear strategic direction, with practical recommendations on what to strengthen, reconsider or change.

Rather than producing an extensive collection of theoretical options, the objective is to establish a focused basis for better business decisions.

02

Positioning & Brand Strategy

Defining what makes a business relevant, distinctive and worth choosing.

Strong positioning begins with a clear understanding of what a business represents, whom it wants to reach and why its offering should matter.

I work with brands, founders and organisations to define or reconsider their place in the market, identify opportunities for differentiation and develop strategic narratives that connect business objectives with audience expectations.

This may involve repositioning an established brand, developing a new proposition, entering a different market, refining a customer experience or challenging assumptions that have shaped a business for years.

My approach combines commercial analysis with an understanding of aesthetics, cultural codes, consumer psychology and changing definitions of value.

I am particularly interested in the relationship between brand identity and perceived value. The strongest brands understand not only what they offer, but also the expectations, associations and aspirations that surround their products and services.

The objective is not simply to make a brand look more desirable, but to establish a credible and commercially meaningful reason for people to choose it.

03

Editorial & Media

Turning ideas into narratives, audiences into communities and attention into value.

My background in publishing and media management shapes the way I approach communication.

Editorial thinking requires curiosity, judgement, an understanding of audiences and the ability to recognise which stories deserve attention. These qualities are just as relevant to a business seeking to establish authority as they are to a publication seeking to engage its readers.

I advise on editorial strategy, content development, publishing concepts, media positioning and the creation of distinctive communication formats.

This includes developing magazines and editorial products, shaping thought leadership, establishing a brand's tone of voice and identifying stories that connect commercial objectives with genuine audience interest.

Having worked on both the editorial and commercial sides of media businesses, I also understand the relationship between content quality, distribution, advertising, partnerships and profitability.

I approach editorial concepts not simply as creative products, but as platforms capable of shaping perception, establishing authority, building relationships and contributing to a broader commercial strategy.

For me, editorial credibility and commercial performance are not opposing objectives. When approached intelligently, they strengthen one another.

04

Media & Communications Strategy

Connecting the right message with the right audience, through the right channels.

Effective communication starts long before a campaign is placed or a media budget is allocated.

I work with organisations to define what they need to communicate, whom they need to reach and which combination of channels, partnerships and experiences is most likely to achieve their objectives.

My experience includes traditional advertising, print media, digital communications, editorial partnerships, brand activations and integrated campaigns that combine broad visibility with more targeted forms of engagement.

Having worked within media organisations as well as alongside advertisers and brands, I understand the commercial interests on both sides of the relationship.

This allows me to approach media decisions independently, balancing audience relevance, creative quality, budget efficiency and measurable business impact.

I believe media strategy should be informed by a clear understanding of the business challenge rather than by the availability of particular platforms, publications or advertising formats.

The objective is not visibility for its own sake, but communication that contributes to reputation, relevance and commercial growth.

05

Advisory

Independent perspective for decisions that shape a business.

Some of the most consequential business decisions benefit from an informed perspective outside the organisation.

I work directly with founders, business owners, executives and leadership teams who require strategic input on positioning, brand development, communication, commercial direction and changing market expectations.

These engagements may involve evaluating a new business opportunity, reviewing an existing strategy, preparing a market entry, challenging established assumptions or helping an organisation navigate a period of transformation.

My role is to combine independent judgement with practical experience across different sectors and disciplines.

I approach advisory assignments with an understanding that strategic decisions rarely exist in isolation. Brand positioning influences pricing, communication shapes reputation, customer expectations affect commercial performance, and cultural changes can create opportunities that are not immediately visible in conventional market analysis.

Rather than operating solely as an external consultant, I aim to become a trusted strategic counterpart who understands the commercial context, asks relevant questions and contributes to decisions with long-term consequences.

Assignments can be structured as defined projects, ongoing advisory mandates or selected strategic collaborations.

06

Speaking & Conversations

Bringing business, culture and changing perspectives into the conversation.

I participate in conferences, leadership discussions, moderated conversations and selected public or private events addressing the relationship between business, culture, communication and society.

My speaking topics include the Taste Economy, perceived value, luxury and consumer behaviour, brand relevance, media transformation, diversity, intercultural communication and the influence of social and cultural change on business.

Drawing on an international background and experience across different industries, I am particularly interested in conversations that challenge established perspectives and connect cultural observations with practical commercial questions.

My approach is informed by the belief that business and cultural developments cannot always be understood independently of one another. Changes in social expectations, aesthetics, technology and communication increasingly influence what consumers consider relevant, desirable and valuable.

Formats range from keynote presentations and panel discussions to moderated conversations and more intimate executive sessions.

Speaking engagements are available in English, German and French.

Execution

Blooming Cactus

From independent thinking to collective capability.

Some assignments require an independent strategic perspective. Others demand a broader combination of creative, commercial and operational expertise.

This is where Blooming Cactus comes in.

As co-founder of Blooming Cactus, a Vienna-based strategic and creative agency, I can extend my individual advisory work into a multidisciplinary structure capable of developing and delivering projects from initial strategy to final execution.

The agency provides tailored solutions across brand strategy, creative direction, editorial development, media planning and buying, communications, campaign development and brand experiences, as well as assignments that extend beyond conventional agency disciplines.

Rather than applying a predefined team or structure to every brief, we bring together the people, capabilities and specialist expertise required for the individual challenge.

Sometimes this means developing a brand's entire strategic and creative direction. In other cases, it involves assembling a specialised team, producing an integrated campaign, developing an editorial platform or taking responsibility for the management and delivery of a complex project.

Our work can encompass strategic consulting, campaign conception, brand development, content production, media strategy, creative execution and the coordination of external partners, depending on the scale and nature of the assignment.

This flexibility allows us to work with businesses that require a single specialised capability as well as organisations seeking a more comprehensive agency partnership.

Our approach brings together strategic thinking, creative ambition and commercial understanding, with the flexibility to adapt to businesses of different sizes, industries and requirements.

Whether the assignment calls for a single strategic intervention or a fully integrated agency partnership, the objective remains consistent: to create relevance, strengthen perceived value and translate ideas into meaningful results.
